Support staff to get the qualifications they are missing to progress further in their careers

I do not feel like my employer supports me to develop my career nor develop my skills.

How does your employer help you to develop your skills or career?

My employer does not enable me to progress further as I am missing a GCSE to do this.

What would you like to happen to enable you to develop your skills and career more?

This is mainly referring to GCSE’s. In my workplace in the pharmacy of a hospital there are a number of Pharmacy Assistants who would make great Pharmacy Technicians but are unable to progress to do the NVQ level 3 as they are missing a science GCSE. There is nowhere locally that does this and the one place that does this is too far away to get too in time with the shift patterns we work. A partnership with local colleges offering on site GCSE courses every year would be a great way to help current staff progress their careers and would mean that you have grateful and knowledgeable people in professional roles. This will give more people a chance to build their careers.
