Give trainees placements close to their homes.

Many and various!

What can be done to encourage more staff to want to work in community settings?

What would improve your day-to-day life working in the community?

This is our new F2* doctor's idea, not mine, but it's great and somebody with authority needs to make it happen. Student nurses and junior doctors are currently allocated placements all over the area served, at random. This is daft - they all travel for miles, wasting time and generating carbon, despite there being potential for similar slots near home.

There has to be a tech solution. Primary school places aren't allocated like this.

Thank you for sharing Dr Cox’s idea, Anna.

Effective allocation of student nurses is important, and this is an area we are keen to explore further including through increased placements in the community. As we think more about this, we will keep in mind the potential role of technology.
